About Most Valuable Friend

Most Valuable Friend is a nonprofit created to help children and young people with communication differences build real, meaningful friendships.

Making friends is hard for everyone. For kids with speech, language, or social communication challenges, it can be even harder. Many families struggle to find peers who truly understand their child—and many kids grow up feeling isolated, even when they deeply want connection. Most Valuable Friend exists to change that.

Friendship shouldn’t be this hard.

Many families struggle to find social opportunities where their child truly feels understood.

Even when kids want to connect, knowing where to start—and who to trust—can be a major barrier.

You’re not alone in this. And neither is your child.

WHAT WE DO

Children playing with a red ball outdoors in a park on a grassy field, with trees and other people in the background.

We help families connect—intentionally.

Most Valuable Friend focuses on forming thoughtful, early connections by:

  • Bringing together families facing similar challenges

  • Helping facilitate introductions and play opportunities

  • Supporting one-on-one or small group connections

  • Prioritizing comfort, flexibility, and parental involvement

We’re not a social platform—and we don’t automate relationships.
We believe real friendships start with care.
